Betta fish losing scales? I just bought a betta fish tonight from Petsmart because I was looking for one to go in my 20 gallon tank. I chose him because as I was looking, I noticed he was in the back of the shelf, laying on the bottom of the cup. Looking closer at him I noticed he has missing scales all over his face and going down his back Betta scales deteriorate/loss... I just found that my Betta has 2 spots on the right side of her body with scales deteriorating.. I have attached some pictures to show the parts I am talking about... I am very worried and definitely do not want to lose this lovely betta If it becomes infected or he continues losing scales then you'll have to look into actual medication.
